The mysterious artist shares on social media how he designs each pair of colorful shoes he places on statues around New York City.

A mysterious artist has been placing shoes on various statues across New York City, USA; he uses social media to show how he designs each pair of colorful Crocs and continues to gain more and more followers.

Speaking to the New York Post, the enigmatic Crocs fan only revealed that he is under 30 years old, from Hoboken, New Jersey, currently unemployed, and used to work as a freelance video editor.

The artist created an Instagram page where he shares videos and photos showing how he designs and produces each pair of shoes that will decorate a piece of public art.

After photographing the selected statue, he uses an online software called Blender to sculpt the shoes around the statue’s feet. Then, he uses a 3D printer to generate molds similar to the footwear, which are later sanded and painted in vibrant colors.

For the mysterious artist, adding these colorful and humorous details makes the statues more approachable.

“The way I see it, to make people care about art, sometimes you have to make it more accessible. Some people may not know who Paul Manship is, but if I put silly Crocs on his statue, then maybe a few people will learn about other artists who are far more serious and talented than I am,” he said.

Regarding his social media success, the big Crocs fan says he finds it fun, but also hopes his posts inspire people to embrace their own creativity.

“I think it’s fun that people laugh and enjoy the videos, and I hope they see them and feel inspired to do something creative,” he explained.
